A Familiar Face Missing from the Front Row This Ramadan

Admin

As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, the Masjid Al Haram in Makkah will witness a significant change in its ranks. A familiar face, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Haaj, who has served as the Fatih (corrector) for the Imams of Masjid Al Haram for over 15 years, has stepped down from his role. His absence will surely be felt by worshippers who have grown accustomed to seeing him ensure the precise and flawless recitation of the Imams leading prayers in the holiest mosque on earth.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Haaj has dedicated years of his life to upholding the accuracy and beauty of Qur’anic recitation within the Grand Mosque, a responsibility of immense importance. His service has left a lasting impact on the spiritual experience of millions of worshippers worldwide. As he moves on to a new role, we pray that Allah (SWT) rewards him abundantly for his dedication and contribution to the Ummah.

In his place, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Souli, the spokesman for the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, will be taking on the responsibility as the acting-corrector. Additionally, experienced correctors and Muadhins of Masjid Al Haram, Sheikhs Muhammad Basaad and Abdullah Ba’Afeef, will continue their roles in maintaining the precision and quality of recitation.

While change is inevitable, the commitment to preserving the sanctity and perfection of Qur’anic recitation in Masjid Al Haram remains steadfast. The dedication of those who serve in these honorable positions ensures that the beauty and correctness of the Qur'an continue to be upheld for all who come to worship.

May Allah bless Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Haaj for his years of service and grant success to those stepping into this noble role. Aameen.
