The Virtues of Reciting the Qur'an in Our Homes

Admin
The recitation of the Qur-aan-e-Kareem is essential in every Muslim home. It brings immense barakah (blessings), protects the household from evils, and invites peace and mercy. There was a time when every Muslim household was filled with the sound of tilawah (recitation), bringing light and protection to homes. Today, reviving this practice is crucial.

Below are three immediate benefits of reciting the Qur'an at home, as mentioned in the Ahadith of Rasulullah (ﷺ).

1. Protection from Kufr and Shirk

Hadhrat Mufti Muhammad Shafee Sahib explains in Ma’ariful Qur-aan (Vol. 5, Page 220) that homes where the Qur'an is regularly recited are protected from kufr (disbelief) and shirk (associating partners with Allah).

2. Protection from Fitnah (Evils)

Hadhrat Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that Hadhrat Jibraa-eel (AS) once informed Rasulullah (ﷺ) about the emergence of many fitnahs (evils). When Rasulullah (ﷺ) asked, "What will be the way out?" Jibraa-eel (AS) replied, "The Book of Allah Ta'ala."

Hadhrat Sheikhul Hadeeth, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kaandhlawi comments on this Hadith, stating:

> "Reciting the Qur’an saves a person from fitnah. When the Qur’an is recited in a house, peace and mercy descend upon it, and shaytaan leaves immediately.

Hadhrat Ali (RA) narrates that Hadhrat Yahya told the Bani Israa-eel:

> "Allah Ta'ala orders you to read His book, and if you do so, you will be like people protected in a fort. No matter from which side the enemy attacks, they will find the Word of Allah Ta’ala as a guard against them."

3. Protection from Jinn and Black Magic (Jaadu)

Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (ﷺ) said:

> "A person in whose heart there is no part of the Qur’an is like an empty house."

Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Rasulullah (ﷺ) said:

> "A house where the Qur’an is recited—its household members increase, virtues and barakah multiply, angels descend, and shaytaan runs far away. But a house in which the Qur’an is not read, life becomes difficult, empty of blessings, angels leave, and shaytaan resides in it."

The Virtues of Surah Tabarak (Surah Al-Mulk)

Rasulullah (ﷺ) emphasized the importance of Surah Tabarak-al-Lazi (Surah Al-Mulk) in the following ways:

1. A Heartfelt Wish
Rasulullah (ﷺ) said:

> "My heart wishes that this Surah be in the heart of every Muslim."

2. A Habit Before Sleeping
Rasulullah (ﷺ) would not go to sleep until he had recited Surah Tabarak-al-Lazi.

3. A Means of Intercession and Forgiveness
Rasulullah (ﷺ) said:

> "There is a Surah in the Qur'an consisting of thirty aayaat, which will intercede for its reader until he is forgiven. This is Surah Tabarak-al-Lazi."

4. Equivalent to Standing in Prayer on Laylatul-Qadr
The reward for reading Tabarak-al-Lazi and Alif-Laam-Meem-Sajdah between Maghrib and Ishaa Salaah is immense. It is like a person who stood in salaah throughout Laylatul-Qadr.

5. Wiping Away Sins and Increasing Rewards
If someone reads these two Surahs, seventy rewards are added to his account, and seventy sins are wiped out.

6. Protection from Jahannam
Rasulullah (ﷺ) explained to the Sahaabah:

> "This Surah guards a person against Allah’s punishment and frees him from Jahannam."

Reciting the Qur’an daily in our homes brings blessings, protection, and peace. Surah Tabarak (Al-Mulk), in particular, has immense benefits in both dunya (this world) and akhirah (the Hereafter).
